The Black Masked Lovebirds love water. They don't really like to be misted or showered so much. They like to stand on the edge of a dish and dip their heads and breasts in the shallow water. Then they splash their wings and splash water all over themselves until they are soaked. Be sure to supplement their water with vitamins and be diligent about cleaning their water source (and food bowls) every day with soap and water.

Sunflower, millet, canary grass seed, shelled oats, hemp, buckweat, sorghum, flax and the seeds of saffron are the main nutritional requirements of these parrots. The birds should always be provided with minerals and cuttle-bone as they are important components of their nutrition. Fruit and vegetables: all Apple varieties (remove all seeds) , fresh Banana, all Berries varieties, all Citrus varieties, Grapes, Kiwi, Mango, Melons, Nectarine, Papaya, Peach, all Pear varieties, Plum, Star-fruit. Pits and seeds from every Citrus and Drupe species must always be discarded as they are intoxicating. However, achenes and tiny seeds from pseudo and true Berries (Bananas, Blueberries, Elderberries, Eggplants, Persimmons, Pomegranates, Raspberries, Strawberries, Tomatoes) are all okay.Except Avocados which are toxic!!!

Boiled eggs or commercial egg food are excellent for young and breeding Black masked lovebirds but care must be taken in avoiding contamination, leaving moist foods in the cage too long
